Maria practices from a Psychodynamic approach assisting those she works with to gain insight into their lives and present-day problems. She integrates other Evidence-Based Practices to meet their needs. Her approach to therapy is to collaborate with those to help them gain a greater understanding of their story, behaviors, and where they want to be. Maria has an extensive background in working with youth and adults who have experienced Trauma and Problematic Sexual/Illegal Sexual Behaviors, in addition to working with and advocating for individuals and families involved with The Department of Child Services and Juvenile Probation. Maria attended Purdue University Calumet where she earned a BA in Human Development Child and Family Studies. She later earned an MSEd in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Certificate in Addiction Counseling from Purdue. She is a Credentialed Sexually Abusive Youth Clinician and is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Problematic Sexual Behavior-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (PSB-CBT). She is available for outpatient therapy.
