Esmeralda Velazquez (she/her/ella) is a bilingual (English/Spanish) graduate student pursuing a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from Adler University. She currently holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Dominican University. She has several years of experience supporting diverse individuals and families through advocacy and community-based services.
She approaches counseling from a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based perspective, honoring the unique values and strengths that each person brings into the therapeutic relationship. She believes that counseling is a collaborative process and will work with clients to identify techniques that best support their unique needs and goals. She is committed to creating a safe space where clients feel empowered to draw on their own resilience and inherent capacity for growth, identifying what feels most meaningful for them.
Outside of counseling, her favorite ways to relax and recharge are enjoying a good book, trying new foods and restaurants, and spending quality time with her family.
