In winter 2024, MSW intern therapist Nicole Walters will have graduated from the University of Indianapolis with her master's in social work. Nicole has participated in Question Persuade Refer, Mental Health First Aid, Peer Recovery Coaching, Critical Incident Response Team, Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-informed treatment as part of her academic and professional career. She earned an Associate of Science in Psychology in 2004, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and a women's studies minor at Indiana University. She graduated in August 2006. Nicole is eager to establish a therapeutic relationship with clients of various ages and backgrounds in a secure and encouraging setting. Nicole has worked as a Child Engagement Specialist and a Family Case Manager for the Indiana Department of Children's Services for seventeen years. Nicole’s experience includes volunteer work for nonprofits like recovery organizations and sober living homes. Nicole is a recipient of the Dr. Richard Hugs Cherish the Children Award by Prevent Child Abuse of Lake County in 2014. Nicole is passionate about meeting people where they are and helping them rebuild their lives. Nicole is experienced in crisis intervention, at-risk youth, trauma, child welfare, and the treatment of addiction.
